Conference calendar clogged

Bringing together NEXPO and the annual newspaper technical meeting known as the SuperConference gets us an action-packed five days against which the NEXPO trade show is but a mere backdrop.

With more than 80 meetings in seven tracks, every day there are a handful of sessions that you should attend. In addition, the annual Classified Conference — along with the Call Center Seminar — will be held concurrently with NEXPO, adding another two dozen sessions to potentially visit.

In addition to general sessions, the NEXPO SuperConference tracks that are in our bailiwick include pre-publishing, new media and information technology. From those tracks, I have culled a number of meetings I think may be worth your while (warning: Saturday’s editorial systems session is moderated by yours truly). These include:

  • Saturday: “Powering Your Newsroom’s Political Coverage,” 8:30-9:45 a.m.; “Time Is Money I: Postscript, PDFs and Beyond,” 8:30-9:45 a.m.; “How New Editorial Systems Cut Time and Dollars,” 10:30 a.m.-noon; “Keeping Your Publisher Out of Jail,” 10:30-11:45 a.m.; “How to Cost-Justify Practically Anything,” 12:15-1:30 p.m.; “Save With Automation and Digital Ad Management,” 12:30-1:30 p.m.; “Introduction to AdsML,” 1-3:30 p.m., and “CTP from A to Z,” 1:45-3:30 p.m.

  • Sunday: “Duel at Daybreak: InDesign vs. Quark,” 8:30-9:15 a.m.; “Electronic Editions,” 9:30-10:30 a.m.; “Hot, New Technology to Improve the Bottom Line,” 9:30-10:30 a.m.; “Ad Agency Innovators,” 10:45 a.m.-noon; “Time Is Money II: Photoshop and Beyond,” 10:45 a.m.-noon; “Calculate the Costs of Digital Tearsheets,” 12:30-1:45 p.m.; “Catch Me If You Can: Data and Network Security,” 12:30-2:30 p.m., and “How to Play the Search Engine Game,” 2:45-4 p.m.
