Newspaper & New Media Seminar
Changing the Paradigm
Monday, Sept. 9, 2:00pm--3:30pm
Scheduled speaker:
- Howard Finberg, Director of Information Technology, Phoenix Newspapers Inc.
While the newspaper industry kept hearing "pagination is five years away," Phoenix Newspapers Inc. (PNI -- publishers of the Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette) was producing more than 1,500 paginated pages a week. What do you do for an encore? Try database publishing. A PNI executive explains how the papers moved from second-wave technology to third-wave by using a team-driven approach that included unusual communications models (Lotus Notes) and was led by the users in full cooperation and partnership with the information systems department.
