    The New York-based Internet classifieds company has launched its redesigned ClassifiedWarehouse.com consumer web site, with an improved "searching experience" and higher visibility of AdOne newspaper affiliates.

    AdOne is backed by 11 newspaper companies: Advance Publications, Belo Corp., Donrey Media Group, The Hearst Corp., Journal Register Co., Lee Enterprises, Media General, MediaNews Group, Morris Communications Corp., Pulitzer Inc. and The E.W. Scripps Co.

  • ARTESIA TECHNOLOGIES INC.
    Artesia Technologies of Washington, D.C., released its TEAMS 3.0 Digital Asset Management solution, which offers new personalization features, increased support for relationship management and expanded rich media publishing capabilities.   • BASEVIEW PRODUCTS INC.
    The BLUEFIELD (W.V.) DAILY TELEGRAPH installed 23 NewsEditPro IQue workstations with Hot Backup from Baseview in July. To complement them, it installed 10 pagination stations, WireManagerIQue, Transporter and the IQue Server.

    From the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based developer's advertising line, the PROVIDENCE (R.I.) VISITOR installed six AdManagerPro (both classified and display) workstations, ClassFlow classified pagination, in addition to NewsEditPro on six workstations and four pagination stations.

    The VISITOR is one of 34 customers installing Baseview advertising, 21 editorial, five circulation and one production packages in July.

  • CASCADE SYSTEMS INC.
    Cascade, a supplier of archiving and workflow solutions based in Andover, Mass., has teamed up with Adobe Systems Inc. of San Jose, to provide a comprehensive publishing solution for retail and catalog companies.

    Now built around Adobe's InDesign layout program, the Cascade Merchant Publishing Solution enables retailers to plan and manage merchandising, advertising and commerce activities in print and on the Web. Based on Cascade's new Context Server architecture, the system links existing business systems and customer loyalty databases with Cascade's SureCast planning product.

    Cascade also will distribute Siteflash, a web management system that combines e-commerce and online publishing with customer relationship management features, made by Austin-based Adhesive Software Inc.

    Cascade will market Siteflash as the "Cascade Commerce Server," another component of its Cross-Media Relationship Management solution.

    CText has installed or upgraded pre-press systems at 12 newspapers in the United States and Brazil. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based system developer also recently lit its AdVision classified system at the DALLAS MORNING NEWS.

    CText systems are newly installed at the RENO (Nev.) GAZETTE JOURNAL, POST BULLETIN in Rochester, Minn., HERALD DISPATCH of Hunington, W.Va., BISMARCK (N.D.) TRIBUNE, THE DERRICK of Oil City, Penn., LINCOLN (Neb.) JOURNAL STAR, and three Wisconsin papers, the LA CROSSE TRIBUNE, JOURNAL-TIMES of Racine and KENOSHA NEWS. Installation is underway at the PRESS ENTERPRISE of Riverside, Calif.

  • DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL
    The Springville, Utah, publishing systems maker will supply NewsSpeed 5.0 pre-press system to three newspapers owned by Landmark Communications Inc., of Norfolk, Va. NewsSpeed is DTI's first solution incorporating InDesign composition engine from Adobe Systems of San Jose, Calif.

    The VIRGINIA-PILOT of Norfolk will replace a Bedford, Mass.-based Atex front-end system with 158 seats of ClassSpeed in advertising and 251 seats of NewsSpeed in editorial. Greensboro, N.C.'s NEWS & RECORD will replace a front-end system from System Integrators Inc. of Sacramento, with 50 seats in classified advertising and 111 seats in the newsroom, as well as 36 seats in retail advertising to retire a Triple-I system there. The ROANOKE (Va.) TIMES will update its direct-to-plate DTI operation with 70 ClassSpeed seats and 105 NewsSpeed seats.

    FutureTense Inc., a supplier of web publishing tools based in Acton, Mass., has announced that space.com has chosen its IPS Xcelerate to manage and publish content for a Web site devoted to news, information, education and entertainment on space and space-related content.

  • GEAC PUBLISHING SYSTEMS
    Geac Publishing Systems, the Tampa, Fla. division of Geac Computers Inc., announced the successful installation of Cybergraphic's Cyber$ell Advertising and CyberPage Editorial systems at WALLA WALLA (Wash.) UNION-BULLETIN. Cyber$ell for ad selling workstations has an interface to the Geac Collier-Jackson advertising billing system and includes CyberCla$$Page for classified pagination. News components include CyberNews for reporters, CyberPage for editorial pagination and CyberOPI, an open pre-press interface, atop Microsoft NT and SQLServer technology.

    Meanwhile, another arm of its Markham, Ontario, Canada-based parent, Geac Computer Corporation Ltd., declared "unconditional" its bid for JBA Holdings PLC of London, and extended until Sept. 21 its tender offer. With two major shareholder hold-outs now on board and 83.5 percent of outstanding shares received, this opens way for institutional shareholders to accept and conclude the buy.

    This information provider's web-based Political Universe in October will add daily Congressional Committee Markup Summaries from the National Journal Group.

    The Congressional Information Service Inc. (CIS), part of the Dayton, Ohio-based LEXIS-NEXIS Group, will expand content on Political Universe, which features federal and state legislative and regulatory materials plus news from nearly 18,000 sources.

    The markup summaries also will link to news stories from the WASHINGTON POST, NATIONAL JOURNAL magazine, WASHINGTON TIMES and NEW YORK TIMES.

    The publishing and information management solutions company headquartered in Horsham, Pa., has been selected to design a custom editorial and web publishing system for the Energy Intelligence Group (EIG), a New York City publisher for the international oil and gas industries. Reed Technology's Web-based editorial system will enable EIG's 50-plus journalists, in six global locations, to manage workflow, including story writing and edit tracking, more streamlined production and automatic releases to the Web.

    Reed Technology also has developed a web site for Rodale Inc.'s BACKPACKER magazine, a database of hiking and camping equipment called Gearfinder http://www.gearfinder.com/.

  • X-RITE INC.
    X-Rite, a supplier of color management tools based in Grandville, Mich., has released a new version of ColorShop. Version 2.6 includes previously optional Density and Profile Viewer Toolkits and a functioning demonstration version (available from the X-Rite web site) that allows users to choose and indefinitely use pre-defined categories of ColorShop's 12 popular tools for managing and communicating color. Also new are Drop-In Drivers for current and future X-Rite instruments, USB support and improved monitor calibration under Windows 98 and 2000.

    ColorShop 2.6 for Macintosh is available this month; a Windows version will be available by year's end.

    Separately, X-Rite announced that its Monitor Optimizer will be included with True Internet Color software by E-Color Inc., formerly Sonnetech Ltd., of San Francisco. The package is designed to delivery more accurate color on the World Wide Web.
