The TIMES is tracking page production with Sysdeco's TrackPage, a tool that consolidates editorial and advertising page and page element status into one relational database. TrackPage was custom-built for the TIMES and the BOSTON GLOBE using Sysdeco's development tool, Systemator. The TIMES is using nearly 60 IBM RS/6000 work stations running Sysdeco's EdPage and Image Services software. With over 850 newsroom users on Sysdeco and legacy Atex terminals, integration between EdPage and the Atex J11 mainframe allows reporters and editors the flexibility to make changes to page layout and copy editing simultaneously, right up to deadline. EdPage enables the TIMES to close nearly a page per minute in the two hours leading up to deadline. --30-- COLE'S NEWSWIRE is compiled by Pete Wetmore and distributed by The Cole Group, publishers of THE COLE PAPERS, COLE'S GUIDE TO PUBLISHING SYSTEMS and consultants to newspapers and magazines worldwide.
