New York-based AdOne, a marketplace for newspaper and magazine classified advertising on the World-Wide Web, has received an equity investment from New World Equities, a venture capital fund controlled by the Pritzker family of Chicago. J.B. Pritzker, president of New World Equities, has been named to the AdOne board of directors. New World Equities is a venture capital firm specializing in the technology and telecommunications industries. AdOne features classified advertising from more than 80 publishers in 27 states and Canada with a combined circulation of 4.9 million. Starting operations in March 1995, AdOne Classified Network has built more than 50 web sites. AdOne may be visited at http://www.adone.com. Agfa, of Ridgefield Park, N.J., has announced that it has reached a distribution agreement with Rampage Systems Inc. to resell an enhanced version of the Rampage raster image processing system through Agfa's distribution network in the United States. The enhanced Rampage system, which will include Agfa's balanced screening system, will be targeted at trade shops and commercial printers. The Agfa Rampage RIPing System includes one or more PostScript Level 2 software RIPS, a specialized board for on-the-fly screening, built-in OPI capabilities and automatic or interactive object-by-object trapping. It runs on standard PCs and networks, and can handle such file formats as CT/LW, TIF and JPEG. Baseview, of Ann Arbor, Mich., has announced these recent sales and installations (not all products sold to a given site are listed): -- FULTON (Mo.) Clickshare, of Williamstown, Mass., has announced that the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR has purchased the Clickshare Access and Payment Service for use on the MONITOR's new web site, initially for audience measurement, with microtransactions to follow. The 87-year-old national daily newspaper plans to launch its World-Wide Web site later this month, at http://www.csmonitor.com. Clickshare will produce user data that can be audited by third parties, such as the Audit Bureau of Circulation, on traffic to its web site. Clickshare gives users a "digital calling card" allowing them to log in once, and charge purchases from publishers at many web sites to a single account. It also tracks visits to advertiser-supported pages and supports authentication for intranets. Boston-based Harlequin has introduced ScriptWorks 4.0, a RIP management system that includes such workflow productivity tools as the Harlequin Color Management System, Harlequin Display List Technology and EasyTrap, a fully automatic trapping system. New features include new color calibration features (separate curves may be stored for output to film or plate), the ability to adjust dot gain by color (C,Y,M,K) and a new user interface with new shortcuts and rearranged dialog boxes to reduce movement among different levels of dialog boxes. Intell.X of Arlington, Va., has announced that it will provide its SourceEXpress service to IBM InfoSage, Big Blue's new Internet-based service for businesses. Source EXpress will make available information from 300 regional, national and international news sources, such as daily newspapers, trade journals, business magazines, industry reports and broadcast transcripts. Intell.X is a subsidiary of DataTimes Corp. of Oklahoma City, Okla. It has developed advanced filtering techniques, including artificial intelligence, to retrieve content from DataTimes' databases. Dayton, Ohio-based Lexis-Nexis has introduced on-line access to U.S. ZIP code demographic data. The database, from Claritas Inc. of New York, is called REZIDE. It can be searched by congressional district, area code plus exchange, county, state, metropolitan statistical area and market area. REZIDE provides a demographic portrait of every residential ZIP code in the United States, including age, income, race, ethnicity, household composition and employment. Philadelphia-based X-Rite has announced that it is shipping its improved 341 Portable Transmission Densitometer, which allows measurements in excess of 5.00 density. The greater dynamic range enhances measurement of density and dot area on conventional or high-density linear films.
