  • ASTROBYTE
Denver-based Astrobyte has upgraded BeyondPress 2.0, its HTML conversion XTension that enables Quark XPress users to publish their documents on the World-Wide Web.

Version 2.0 adds support for the latest HTML features, plus advanced image controls and automated conversion using Apple Events scripts.

The original BeyondPress allowed users to arrange elements of an XPress document to form linear HTML articles, with a Preview button converting text and images to Internet formats for display in a browser program such as Netscape Navigator. Users could map their XPress style sheets to HTML styles to preserve text formats, select image conversion options, and create links to URL addresses within XPress.

With BeyondPress 2.0, users can add background colors and tiles, colored links and styled text. Users also use client-side and server-side image maps and conversion of tabular data into HTML tables. Image handling now includes cropping and scaling.

BeyondPress 2.0 ships with a sample script that will convert any word processor file, picture, or Quark XPress document to HTML. Available worldwide from Astrobyte and its distributors, a single-user copy costs $595.
