  • CASCADE SYSTEMS INC.
    Val-Pak of Largo, Fla., has become Cascade's 100th customer with the recent installation of a DataFlow page tracking system. Two-year-old Cascade, based in Andover, Mass., markets DataFlow, ImageFlow and MediaSphere digital products. Previous customers include NEWSDAY of Melville, N.Y., and a number of commercial printing enterprises.


  • EDGIL ASSOCIATES INC.
    Edgil, based in North Chelmsford, Mass., has announced the sale of its EdgCapture credit card and check processing system to the IDAHO STATESMAN of Boise. The EdgCapture credit server and Atex client will authorize sales and transfer funds for the STATESMAN's classified advertising and circulation prepayments. The STATESMAN also purchased the Check Drafting and Debiting Option, which will enable the paper to accept personal checks for prepayment of ads and subscriptions. Transactions will be processed through First National Bank of Maryland.


  • MONOTYPE SYSTEMS INC.
    Monotype, of Rolling Meadows, Ill., has sold a dual MGS3 system to the PORTLAND OREGONIAN. The OREGONIAN already owned six Sun RipExpresses, LaserPlex and LaserPlex IQ, and six high-resolution Monotype imagers. It will use the MGS3 as an OPI server.

    MGS3 includes a graphics database, OPI server, print spoolers, e-mail notification, load leveling across several RlPs, network routing and PostFlight PostScript error checking. The Dual MGS3 system consists of two Sun SPARCstation 20/61 workstations.


  • PrePRESS SOLUTIONS
    Members of the Panther family of imagesetting systems made by PrePress Solutions of East Hanover, N.J., have been installed recently at these newspapers: WEST FRANKFURT (Ill.) DAILY AMERICAN; NEVADA APPEAL of Carson City, Nev.; GASTON (N.C.) GAZETTE; LEXINGTON (N.C.) DISPATCH; BISMARCK (N.D.) TRIBUNE; GETTYSBURG (Pa.) TIMES; APPLETON (Wis.) POST CRESCENT; SHEBOYGAN (Wis.) PRESS; WAUKESHA (Wis.) COUNTY FREEMAN, and WINNIPEG (Manitoba, Canada) FREE PRESS

    The installations included PantherPro, PantherPro/36, and PantherPro/46 imagesetting systems. Many of the installations also included PantherOPI, PrePRESS' OPI solution.


  • PUBLISHING PARTNERS INTERNATIONAL
    Publishing Partners International of Manchester, N.H., has announced installations at five new sites:

    -- The RECORD-JOURNAL in Meridan, Conn. (30K circulation), PPI Classified Advertising with Managing Editor Classified Pagination and CJ/HP3000 Business System Interface, seven networked users with dual Novell servers with 2.1OB mirrored storage. AMS replaces Crosfield.

    -- The DAILY NEWS-TRIBUNE in LaSalle, IIl. (19K circulation), one daily and two agricultural weeklies. PPI Classified Advertising with Informatel Classified Pagination, MOSS Business System lnterface, seven networked users and dual Novell servers with mõrrored storage. AMS replaces the Dewar system.

    -- North Jersey Newspapers in Passaic, N.J. (56K circulation), one daily and 22 weeklies. PPI Retail Order Entry with MES Ad Director, CNI AdTracker I/F and Unisys Business System Interface. 12 networked users with dual Novell servers with mirrored storage. AMS replaces DT.

    -- The TRENTONIAN in Trenton, N.J. (19K circulation), one daily and two weeklies. PPI Classified Advertising with Managing Editor Inc. Classified Pagination and INSI AS400 Business System Interface, 12 networked users with dual Novell servers with mirrored storage. AMS replaces Intertext.

  • SYSTEM INTEGRATORS INC.
    Sacramento, Calif.-based SII has announced what it calls "the largest single order ever won by SII," the sale of an advertising system to the German newspaper group Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ) for the group's offices throughout Germany. SII did not provide a dollar value for the contract.
