  • ASTECH INTERMEDIA
This Denver-based supplier of newspaper marketing automation systems has announced Media Sense v2, an upgrade of its web-based, map-driven advertising sales presentation and order placement system designed to increase ad revenues across multiple distribution channels including pre-prints, marriage mail, solo mail and, when applicable, e-mail.

  • ATEX MEDIA COMMAND INC.
The ARIZONA REPUBLIC (451k) has signed an agreement to become the first beta site for Atex's electronic tearsheet and electronic billing service, Atex eTearsheet.

The Atex eTearsheet service takes a newspaper's EPS page files, converts them to Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG) format -- which reduces their data size -- indexes the ads and serves the pages to the Web. In response to an authorized request, the system automatically selects the correct electronic tearsheet image and presents it on-line.

In the first phase of the project, Atex will host the REPUBLIC's eTearsheet service. The newspaper will send its daily EPS files to Atex for page processing and viewing on the Web as tearsheets by authorized advertisers and newspaper personnel.

In the second phase of the project, Atex will introduce its electronic invoicing system, eBill, which works in tandem with eTearsheet. This service pairs the electronic tearsheet with the matching electronic invoice, then presents both on-line. An automatically generated e-mail alerts the advertiser that the invoice and tearsheet have been processed. Further, an e-commerce payment service can easily be associated with eBill.

The company also said that it had struck a joint-marketing agreement with QuickWire Labs of Hamilton, Ontario, which will bring QuickWire's wire collection capabilities to Atex's Prestige editorial system. The companies said QuickWire would link news agency feeds to a searchable index that will link directly into Atex Prestige where it can be managed and published to multiple media channels.

Atex Media Command was created recently by the merger of Atex Media Solutions and Media Command; these two agreements involved Atex Media Solutions and preceded the merger. The new company is based in Bedford, Mass., and is on the Web at http://www.atex.com/.
