  • CREO PRODUCTS INC.
This Vancouver, British Columbia-based supplier of graphic arts products has announced that it will move production of its Iris proofing products from Billerica, Mass., to its headquarters over the next year.

The company said that customer support and engineering would also move to the Vancouver area and that the move was part of Creo's worldwide cost-savings program. Between 100 and 120 regular full-time Iris employees will be affected by the move.

Creo has also introduced the newest version of its color profiling software, Profile Wizard Suite 2.1. This color technology insures that quality color information remains consistent from device to device during production. Profile Wizard 2.1 supports an open International Color Consortium (ICC) color workflow and automatically generates ICC profiles for printers, monitors, scanners and digital cameras.

Further, the company is introducing Profile Wizard Lite, a new entry-level profiling application. Targeted at the novice user, the Lite version allows the creation of profiles through a very easy-to-use interface, without editing capabilities.

  • ENFOCUS SOFTWARE INC.
This Belgian supplier of Portable Document Format (PDF) software with U.S. offices in San Mateo, Calif., has announced that DAL TC, the Dutch technical commission governing digital supply of data files, has chosen the Enfocus Certified PDF data file as a standard for digitally exchanging advertisements.

Those present at the DAL TC meeting included KVGO/OPPO, the section of the KVGO (Royal Union of Graphic Companies) representing the interests of pre-press and pre-publishing companies, the Nederlands Uitgevers Verbon (NUV -- Dutch Publishers' Union), the Groep Publiekstijdschriften (Popular Magazines group), and the Vereiniging van Erkende Reclameadviesbureaus and Union of Accredited Advertisement Bureau (VEA).

The company said this standardization means that it is possible to exchange PDF files between newspaper publishers, graphics companies and other advertising interests in a reliable and manageable way. In principle, this makes hard copies no longer needed, provided that the required color profiles are supplied at the same time.
