  • ADSTAR.COM INC.
    HR.com, a premier on-line community and e-marketplace for human resources professionals, has signed an agreement with this Marina Del Rey, Calif.-based company to provide HR.com's users with access to Advertise123.com's on-line newspaper classified-ad placement service.

    As part of the agreement, AdStar.com Inc. has created a co-branded version of the Advertise123.com classified-ad sales channel that is integrated into HR.com's e-marketplace. The agreement enables HR professionals using HR.com to directly place classified advertisements into newspapers representing the top 100 U.S. markets in print and on-line through Advertise123.com.

  • BASEVIEW PRODUCTS INC.
    North American Publishing Co., the Philadelphia-based publishers of PRINT MEDIA (formerly PUBLISHING AND PRODUCTION EXECUTIVE) magazine, BROADBAND SOLUTIONS, PRINTING IMPRESSIONS and numerous other titles, has installed LiveIQue cross-media publishing system from this Ann Arbor, Mich.-based supplier.

    North American Publishing is currently using LiveIQue to publish web sites for PRINT MEDIA and BROADBAND SOLUTIONS, with plans to move all the company's web publications as soon as possible.

    The company also said that six Colorado papers, a mix of weeklies and dailies formerly of the Stauffer group which are now part of Morris Communications Inc. of Savannah, Ga., have converted to Baseview's AdManagerPro for classifieds and have combined databases.

    The WASHINGTON POST (812k) has selected AdEZ remote classified entry product to allow the paper's existing front-end system to be used interactively for placing classified ads on-line. The AdEZ software, from Pleasanton, Calif.'s GDT-Nova, will enable the POST's customers to place classified ads using the Web with real-time pricing and proofing utilizing the POST's classified system.

    The AdEZ application uses GDT-Nova's Connex XML Server, which integrates web servers with business systems, such as classified advertising or editorial front-end systems. AdEZ is a private party and commercial ad entry application allowing individuals and businesses to place classified orders (including photos and logos) through a standard Internet browser.

    Gannett Media Technologies International (GMTI) of Cincinnati has chosen GDT-Nova's Connex XML Server technology to complement its Celebro.com Real Estate and Automotive advertising technologies. GMTI's Celebro.com enables newspapers to provide to their automotive dealers and real-estate customers easier ways to advertise in all of the newspaper's products. The Connex XML Server allows the advertiser's liner ads to be sent directly from Celebro to the newspapers' front-end classified systems without a need to re-key the data at the newspaper.

    This San Jose-based division of Knight Ridder has announced that the local news channels of its Real Cities network of city and regional web sites will be included in the Palm Mobile Internet Kit.

    Under the arrangement, Real Cities will offer news channels optimized for Palm handheld users from leading U.S. newspapers nationwide as well as special interest sites such as Auto.com and the NASCAR-related site, ThatsRacin.com.

    Palm handheld users with models other than the wirelessly enabled Palm VII series handheld, through the use of the Mobile Internet Kit and their data-enabled mobile phone, can choose to access local news by zip code, state or a pull-down menu of newspapers.

    The enhanced web interface feature of HelpTrac allows technicians to read, open, close or edit tickets via the Internet, saving time and money.     Products that will be adopted by the DAILY STAR include NewsView 2000, PhotoView 2000, Assignment and SignUp.

    This Danish company, which has U.S. offices in Rockville, Md., has announced that MORSO FOLKEBLAD (6k) has purchased a complete SAXoPRESS Content Management System, a suite of cross-platform and integrated tools for editorial print and on-line publishing, which will be used to publish the daily newspaper. SAXoPRESS will also be used to publish a weekly newspaper (18-40k). MORSO FOLKEBLAD is published on the island of Mors, which is in northwest Denmark.

    The 25-seat system, which is to replace the newspaper's aging DDE system, will be running on Windows NT servers and an Oracle 8i database.
