ARTESIA TECHNOLOGIES INC.
This Rockville, Md.-based provider of digital asset management software has released its TEAMS 4.0 software. The latest version of Artesia's digital asset management software features increased support for streaming media applications, improved metadata management capabilities and the inclusion of new Web-accessible functionality.

With the addition of the features to TEAMS' existing enterprise-class architecture, TEAMS 4.0 provides an industry platform for the management and use of digital assets within the Global 2000, media, entertainment, publishing and dot-com markets. Several key enhancements include fortification of its web-client framework through the use of standards-based J2EE JSP technology, and increased optimization for the management and delivery of streaming-media content.

BANTA INTEGRATED MEDIA
This Cambridge, Mass.-based provider of e-business software for digital-content management, electronic commerce and Internet-enabled variable data printing has renamed DataMerge XTension for Quark XPress, developed by its affiliate Meadows Information Systems.

The new name, DesignMerge, reflects added features in the 4.0 release that extend the software beyond basic personalization to support extensive customization of the content and layout for an endless variety of documents. New features include support for multipage XPress templates, the ability to merge variable text files, data preview that facilitates interactive scrolling through database records, increased maximum number of variable fields to more than 500 per document, up to 80 percent improvement on the optimization of PostScript processing speeds, and optional add-on support for Apple Events and scripting to automate standard production processes.

HARRIS PUBLISHING SYSTEMS CORP.
The PEORIA (Ill.) JOURNAL STAR (74k) has selected this Melbourne, Fla.-based company's integrated AdPower system to manage its classified-advertising production activities. Harris' AdPower is a WYSIWYG system for ad-order entry and classified applications. The system's components work together to create a cohesive advertising environment that integrates sales, productions, reporting and distribution functions.

AdPower can be user-configured to support conventional newspaper print media, specialty publications, other products, or electric media. The system will run on two Sun Enterprise 450 servers, also supplied by Harris, and the JOURNAL STAR will upgrade its existing Harris classified pagination system to the latest version as well. Additionally, the paper has purchased 35 client workstation licenses, Web order entry, Web output, fax input/output capability, and contact manager, credit card, ad-tracking and billing system interfaces.

JAWS SYSTEMS LTD.
This Cambridge, U.K.-based subsidiary of Harlequin, within the Global Graphics Printing Software Division, has announced Jaws Digital Courier, the new PDF-based client/server software for on-line document delivery.

Based on Jaws PDF Creator and Jaws fully-featured PostScript-to-PDF distiller, Jaws Digital Courier is designed for organizations needing to expedite the delivery of digital document masters from many remote locations to a single node for printing. Jaws Digital Courier is comprised of two components, a Client Builder Application and a Decryption and Licensing Server. The intent is to also offer it to the Global Graphic's Printing Software Division's OEM base.

Providing advertising systems for the newspaper industry, this Melbourne, Fla.-based company has announced that UNION-NEWS (105k) and SUNDAY REPUBLICAN (150k) of Springfield, Mass., have signed a contract for an AdBase system. The two dailies are part of Advance Publications, a group that owns newspapers in 22 cities in addition to owning 20 magazines, American City Business Journals and Advance Internet Inc.

Poweradz's Zwire! Network allows advertisers to place messages on more than 1,400 on-line newspapers' sites with a single media buy. Included are daily and weekly papers with a combined circulation of more than 25 million and coverage in 47 states.
