The developer of the TeamBase editorial system has changed its web site domain name. The former domain name was recently acquired by the multibillion-dollar company Agilent Technologies, a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard. The Nashua, N.H. company is now on the Web at http://www.agileenterprise.com. The Vancouver, B.C., Canada supplier of direct-to-plate systems and Scitex Corp. Ltd. of Herzlia, Israel, have announced that they have agreed to combine their digital pre-press businesses. Under the terms of the agreement, Creo will acquire the assets of Scitex's digital pre-print business in exchange for 13.25 million Creo shares valued at some US$537 million, based on the closing price on Jan. 14, 2000. When the transaction is final, Scitex will become a major shareholder in Creo with about 27 percent of the outstanding shares (fully diluted). The new graphic arts group -- tentatively named Creo/Scitex -- will combine the pre-press operations of Scitex and Creo. Management will include representatives from both companies. The global operations of Creo/Scitex will be managed from Vancouver and Herzlia. In a separate press release issued yesterday by Scitex, the company stated that in addition to its agreement with Creo, it intends to increase its focus on digital printing and opportunities in Internet-related technologies in the imaging and media sectors. The Springville, Utah, developer of newspaper systems has announced that its 4.3 editorial and ROP advertising system has been installed by Brunswick News Inc. at the TELEGRAPH JOURNAL (circulation 28,000) and EVENING TIMES GLOBE (circulation 60,000) in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The New Brunswick newspapers have also installed DTI's new 5.0.1 advertising system, using PlanBuilder for pagination and DTI's graphics management software. The company says that these newspapers are the first to use IBM PCs (as opposed to Apple Macintosh computers) for its new 5.0.1 software. Additionally, The Papers Inc., Milford, Ind., has upgraded to ClassSpeed 5.0.1 classified sales software, ROP Order Entry 5.0.1 PlanBuilder page planning, AdSpeed ad production and editorial software. OpenRIP NT is an Adobe PostScript III, PDF 1.3 interpreter based on the Adobe CPSI kernel. It runs under Windows NT and integrates into Macintosh, Windows or mixed environments. RIPit is popular in the instant printing industry because of features including a graphical user interface, ease of installation and connection through a PCI card; it also support Epson color proofing. RIPit Computer Corp. was founded in 1989 to serve the franchise and instant quick printing market; it is based in Citrus Heights, Calif.
